Salt therapy? Absolutely. I was amazed by how I felt. I have been a chronic, allergy-ridden person for almost my entire life. I forgot what it felt like to really take a full, deep breath, and I had no idea that I had forgotten! I learned to live with allergies and thus a more constricted respiratory system so the decreased capacity was my status quo. After only 2 salt room treatments, I noticed a very real difference in my lungs. The experience is very cleansing and peaceful. I felt like I was treating my entire body to a well-deserved luxury. I can only imagine what this does for others suffering with more complicated breathing challenges! Thanks for bringing this fantastic service to our congested area of the world Ellen!
The Salt Sanctuary of Maryland is amazing! From the moment you walk in the door, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They made me feel right at home and addressed all of my questions. Over the years, I have dealt with seasonal allergies and have not been able to find relief. My friend suggested the Salt Sanctuary of Maryland and I am so happy I listened to her. After one session, I was able to breath again! It was remarkable! I have been back to the Salt Sanctuary of Maryland many times and I am always pleased with my results. Not only has the Salt Sanctuary helped me with my allergies and quality of life, the salt room is extremely relaxing and gives me a chance to decompress after a long day. Thank you Salt Sanctuary of Maryland for all you provide to our community!
I have seen "Salt Rooms" advertised in Europe for relief from allergies, but I did not realize this spa therapy is available in the United States. This facility is brand new at a backside of a strip mall that is easy to find right off of I-95 near Columbia. Plenty of parking. I discovered it by chance and decided to give it a try after getting a discount for the Grand Opening. Loved it! This place really helped relieve my chronic congestion and sore nasal passages. The owner was very friendly and professional and explained the benefits of halotherapy. After she gave me info on what to expect, I put my valuables, etc. in a personal locker and then took off my shoes and covered my feet with disposable foot coverings. I then entered the Salt Room which is a room literally covered in salt, walls and floor. I believe it is Dead Sea Salt. It is like walking in sand except it is salt. The lighting is low and warm and I sat in a zero gravity recliner and was provided with a snuggly blanket and told to just get comfortable and really relax and concentrate on deep relaxed breathing. The session began and meditative music was played that really got me relaxed. Then salt was pumped into the room on and off through a small pipe opening throughout the session. After 20 minutes I could feel my sinuses/passages opening and my sinus headache lessening. The meditative music and the deeper breathing made me so relaxed, I felt like I had a deep nap when it was over. There also was a room with an automatic massage bed in it, which I tried, that rolls up and down the spine (actually from head to ankles) with infrared heat and does accupressure points. It was a bit like a massage chair and felt very good. it was good for my lower back pain. I liked it because it was a relaxing massage without the hassle of getting undressed, tipping, etc. I can see myself using this sometimes during my lunch hour. Overall, I liked what this place had to offer and I bought a small package to use when allergy season begins in a few weeks.
I had read a couple of articles about the benefits of salt room therapy for allergy sufferers, and as someone who struggles with both Spring and Fall allergies, and year-round pet allergies, I was happy to learn that Salt Sanctuary of Maryland would be opening in this area. I went in to give it a try and was quite pleased with the results. First, the place of business is sparkling clean and welcoming. I enjoyed the hour of relaxation in the actual salt room, with quiet music playing and a comfortable chair to stretch out in. I felt relaxed and refreshed after spending an hour laying back and breathing in the salt air. That is all there was to it...relax and breathe. On the ride home, my sinuses opened up and began to drain. By the next morning I was breathing like a regular person! My head was clear, which it had not been for a while. I was impressed and pleased that one visit could have that result. I plan on regular visits throughout the Spring allergy season because it would be so nice to actually be able to enjoy Spring this year. Also a much nicer experience than the shots and medications I have tried in the past.
